According to police, the attack took place at 3 a.m. on Jan. 22, when an unknown suspect used an unknown object to stab and slice the 41-yearold male victim in his head and lower right arm outside of a home on 95th Street near 91st Avenue. After the attack, the suspect — last seen wearing a red sweatshirt and white slacks — fled the scene of the crime on a bike in an unknown direction, law enforcement agents said. Officers from the 102nd Precinct arrived on scene with EMS units; the victim was taken to Jamaica Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police stated. No arrests have been made at this time and the investigation is ongoing. ARRESTS MADE IN FIRST DEADLY SHOOTING OF 2017 A second man is now under arrest in connection with the deadly shooting of a 31-year-old man in Richmond Hill that was the first fatal shooting of the new year. Dreshuan Smith, 22, of Nashville Boulevard in St. Albans was picked up by detectives on Friday, Jan. 20; he and Shakim Allen, 23, of Merrick Boulevard in St. Albans, who was arrested on Jan. 11, were charged with the Jan. 2 murder of Rocky Kalisaran of Brooklyn. Kalisaran was shot along with a 24-year-old man in front of a home on 124th Street just south of Liberty Avenue just before 3:23 a.m. on Jan. 2, in what was believed to have been a robbery attempt gone bad. Kalisaran sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his chest and was pronounced dead at Jamaica Hospital; the other victim was shot in the back and was treated for his injuries. Both Smith and Allen face charges of murder, robbery and criminal use of a firearm; Smith was additionally charged with assault. 107th Precinct Flushing, Fresh Meadows, Jamaica FRESH MEADOWS MAN GETS 15 YEARS FOR KILLING GIRLFRIEND An elderly Fresh Meadows man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for beating his live-in girlfriend to death over the summer. Chitwah Tse, 73, was charged with first-degree manslaughter after killing his girlfriend, Huizhen Zhan, 61, in their apartment in August 2016. On Monday, Aug. 1, at 7:15 p.m., officers from the 107th Precinct discovered Zhan inside her apartment on 65th Ave. She was lying face up in a bed in the basement, unconscious and unresponsive. The body was covered with a sheet that was soaked in blood, there was blood on the walls and ceiling and broken glass on the bed. Zhan was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. According to the Chief Medical Examiner, she received blunt force trauma to the head and classified the death as a homicide. According to District Attorney Richard Brown’s office, at 7:15 p.m. on Aug. 1, Tse walked into the law office of Garo Kapikian and said that there was a corpse in the basement apartment of 158-10 65th Ave. in Fresh Meadows. Kapikian called the police with this information. On Wednesday, Aug. 3, between 2:15 and 2:30 p.m., Tse climbed over the balcony of the 22nd floor at 401 Broadway in Manhattan. He found his way onto an I-beam near the balcony and threatened to jump. Members of the NYPD’s Emergency Services Unit and the Hostage Negotiation Team grabbed Tse and pulled him from the railing and back inside of the building. Tse was transported to Bellevue Hospital and was later charged with the death of Huizhen Zhan. Tse pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in December 2016. Brown said, “The victim was beaten bloody and left for dead in their bed that was soaked crimson red. The defendant will likely spend the rest of his life incarcerated for this heinous crime.” 106th Precinct Howard Beach, Ozone Park, Richmond Hill 102th Precinct Kew Gardens, Ozone Park, Richmond Hill, Woodhaven KNIFE-WIELDING THIEF ROBS REGO PARK WOMAN Police released video on Jan. 21 of a man who allegedly robbed a woman at knifepoint and assaulted her on a Rego Park street last week. According to authorities, the robbery took place at 8:20 p.m. on Wednesday night, Jan. 18, at the corner of 65th Avenue and 99th Street. Law enforcement sources said the victim was walking through the area when she was approached by the suspect, who is described as a black male standing 5 foot 8 inches tall and wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt. Police said the perpetrator displayed a knife, then punched the woman in the face and grabbed her purse, which contained an iPhone and credit card. The suspect then fled the location on foot eastbound on 65th Avenue toward 102nd Street. Officers from the 112th Precinct responded to the incident; the victim suffered bruises to her face, but refused medical attention.
