Perps sought for
home invasion
Detectives need the public’s help in
fi nding two armed men responsible for a
violent home invasion in Richmond Hill
last week.
Law enforcement sources said the caper
took place at about 2:10 p.m. on Jan. 16 in
the area of Myrtle and Hillside Avenues.
According to police, a 32-year-old
woman was heading out of her residence
when the two unidentifi ed male suspects
approached her. One of the crooks displayed
a fi rearm and forced her back
inside the home, where they also confronted
a 34-year-old victim.
Authorities said the home invaders tied
up both victims; in the process, one of
the suspects pistol-whipped the 32-yearold
woman in the head, causing a bruise.
Aft er restraining the victims, police
noted, the bandits searched the residence,
stole $500 in cash and then fl ed the scene
on foot in an unknown direction.
EMS units also responded to the home,
but the injured woman refused medical
attention.
On Jan. 19, the NYPD released video
footage of the two perpetrators. Cops

described one of the suspects as a black
man in his 20s or 30s, standing 6 feet,
4 inches tall and weighing 260 pounds.
He was last seen wearing a gray hooded
sweatshirt, a dark jacket and blue pants.
His partner is described as a Hispanic
male in his 20s or 30s, standing 5 feet,
7 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds,
who was last seen wearing a black hooded
sweatshirt, a dark jacket and gray pants.

Woman killed in house fi re
Flames ripped through a Jamaica home
on Jan. 16, leaving an 84-year-old woman
dead and her husband injured, Fire
Department sources said.
According to authorities, at 11:22 p.m.,
police responded to a 911 call regarding
a residential fi re at 166-11 91st Ave. Th e
FDNY deployed 25 units, including more
than 100 fi refi ghters and EMS personnel,
to the scene and got the fi re extinguished
by 1:05 a.m.
Once the fi re was out, offi cers from the
103rd Precinct entered the home and
found 84-year-old Ruth Andrade on the
fi rst fl oor of the home, unconscious and
unresponsive, along with her 85-year-old
husband.
EMS units rushed both victims to
Queens Hospital Center, where Andrade
was pronounced dead. Her husband
remains hospitalized in stable condition.

Flushing
Suspect arrested in
deli slashing
A Flushing man who allegedly slashed
another individual aft er getting into an
argument with him at a neighborhood
deli was arrested on Monday, Jan. 21,
according to police.
Milton Melgar, 35, of 41st Avenue was
taken into custody following questioning
at the 109th Precinct’s stationhouse,
located at 37-05 Union St., at approximately
4:20 p.m. on Jan. 21, police said.
Law enforcement sources said that
Melgar allegedly sliced the 44-year-old
man’s wrist with a box cutter on Jan. 13
at the Corner Stop Deli located at 149-
01 41st Ave.
Melgar was charged with assault, police
said.
Th e 109th Precinct took to social media
on Tuesday, Jan. 22, and thanked the
public for sharing or retweeting the post
of Melgar.
114th Precinct
Long Island City
Gunman fi red at Queensbridge
Cops are asking the public
for help in locating a man
who allegedly opened fi re
inside an apartment building
at the Queensbridge
Houses in Long Island City
last week.
According to police, at
10:30 a.m. on Jan. 15, a
man was seen entering an
apartment building located
at 41-02 12th St. while fi ring
a gun. While exiting the
building, police said, the
perp was seen with a fi rearm
in hand.
Offi cers from the 114th
Precinct responded to the
incident and found that nobody had been
injured.
As part of an ongoing investigation,
police identifi ed an individual wanted for
questioning in the case; he’s identifi ed as
26-year-old Jonathan Faison and is wanted
for questioning in regards to reckless
endangerment. Police sources indicated
that the motive for the gunfi re is not
yet known.

Corona
Three injured in house fi re
Firefi ghters extinguished a threealarm
fi re that ripped its way through a
Corona home on the night of Monday,
Jan. 21.
According to the FDNY, a call came
in just before 10 p.m. on Jan. 21 regarding
a fi re at 34-40 100th St. Upon their
arrival, they found that the fi re was ripping
through the second fl oor of the residence.
Firefi ghters got the fi re under control
by 1 a.m. A civilian was rescued from the
home and suff ered minor injuries.
Two fi refi ghters were also injured from
the fi re, one with minor injuries and the
other with a serious non-life-threatening
injury.
Th e cause of the fi re is being investigated
by the FDNY marshals.
