19 • TIMES, THURSDAY, DECEMBER 18, 2014 Cameras Help Cops Nab Alleged Maspeth Burglar Teenager Pinched For Four Recent Break-Ins by Robert Pozarycki A Maspeth teenager found himself in handcuffs last week for allegedly carrying out four burglary attempts around the neighborhood, law enforcement sources said. Police identified him as 17- year-old Joshua Guevara of 65th Place, who was arraigned last Thursday, Jan. 11, in Queens Criminal Court before Judge Suzanne Melendez on charges of third-degree burglary, seconddegree attempted burglary, fourth-degree grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property and criminal trespass. Several of the incidents were reportedly caught on tape, authorities noted. According to information provided by the Queens District Attorney’s office, the first breakin attempt occurred between 3 and 5 p.m. on Dec. 5 at a home on 63rd Street near Maurice Avenue. Reportedly, Guevara— accompanied by several unidentified individuals—entered the location and removed a wallet and $120 in cash. Police said they also stole several checkbooks, a portable CD player, a laptop computer, sets of car and house keys and a purse. The other three burglary attempts occurred between 9 p.m. last Monday, Dec. 8 and early the following morning, authorities noted. Police said Guevara allegedly broke into a home on 65th Place near 53rd Avenue and removed the keys to a Honda Accord parked nearby. Seconds later, it was reported, he exited the home and opened the vehicle’s trunk, removing bags of Christmas presents left inside. Law enforcement sources said Guevara allegedly stole a bike and power tools from the rear of a home on 55th Avenue near 64th Street and was observed attempting to break into a neighboring residence. -SEE BURGLAR ON PG. 62- Civilians Help Stop Suspected Groper Midville Man Gets Cuffed For Footbridge Attack by Robert Pozarycki With the help of a few Good Samaritans, police busted a Middle Village man on Monday night, Dec. 15, who allegedly groped and attacked two women on a nearby pedestrian overpass, it was reported. Law enforcement sources identified the suspect as 28-yearold Jaime Rada-Bayona. Reportedly, the incident began at about 8:49 p.m. Monday night on the footbridge spanning the Long Island Rail Road’s Main Line in the vicinity of 60th Road and Van Horn Street in Elmhurst. According to authorities, Rada-Bayona allegedly approached and then sexually assaulted a 32-year-old woman crossing the bridge. Police said the victim attempted to fight off the suspect. Another female reportedly witnessed the attack and came to the victim’s aid; law enforcement sources noted Rada-Bayona allegedly assaulted that woman for her trouble, then fled westbound into Middle Village across the bridge.
