Woodhaven throws a parade to welcome Ol’ St. Nick
The North Pole’s most famous visitor
was given a hero’s greeting
during the “Welcome Santa to
Woodhaven Parade” on Dec. 2 along
Jamaica Avenue. Santa Claus and Mrs.
Claus were greeted by community
groups and merchants as they walked
along Jamaica Avenue from 95th
Street to Dexter Court. The Greater
Woodhaven Development Corporation
sponsored the march.
HOLIDAYS
Lighting up for the
holidays in Maspeth
Plenty of good tidings and cheer
were found during Maspeth’s
tree lighting ceremony on
Friday night, Dec. 1, at Maspeth
Memorial Square. Hundreds gathered
at the event for an evening of
music and to light up a tall pine tree
for the holidays. Santa Claus also
stopped by to greet the guests, with
members of nearby Squad Company
288/Haz-Mat 1 helping to arrange
for his trip from the North Pole. The
Maspeth Chamber of Commerce
and Maspeth Federal Savings were
among the event’s sponsors. Photos via Facebook/Maspeth Federal
