Christopher Manson said at the beginning of his presentation, noting that major felonies are down 4.6 percent year-to-date. Robberies, burglaries and felony assaults were significantly lower for the period, he noted, and misdemeanor crime also dropped. Additionally, Manson noted, 104th Precinct officers and detectives arrested approximately 3,665 individuals so far in 2013, A .up about 100 arrests from the same period last year. “The work is getting done,” he saidmong the most recent arrests was Victor Rivera, 51, of Glendale, who was picked up hours before last Tuesday’s meeting for a domestic assault. While responding to the incident, as reported in last week’s paper, officers also found a cache of high-powered weapons and hundreds of ammunition rounds in his residence. Despite the recent crime drop, Manson noted, the 104th Precinct experienced three bank robberies in as many weeks, two of which occurred in Maspeth. The suspect behind the most recent incident— the Oct. 18 heist at an Amalgamated Bank in Maspeth—reportedly hit the same location a year earlier.
