Sponsored by the Greater Woodhaven Development Corporation, the festival featured a variety of attractions including performances from the Mary Lamont Country and Western Band and the Malaysian Lion Dancers. Numerous local elected offi cials, including state Senator Joseph Addabbo, City Councilman Eric Ulrich and Assemblyman Mike Miller, also stopped by. Greeting them were Greater Woodhaven Development Corporation President Stephen Esposito and Executive Director Maria Thomson. Richard Blake Gonzalez Jr. came into the world on Oct. 9 weighing 5 pounds, 12 ounces and measuring 20 1/2 inches. The proud parents are Charlene Weiss and Richard Gonzalez of Rego Park; proud grandparents are Richard and Belinda Gonzalez, and Mark and Donna Weiss. PHOTO COURTESY OF CHRIS BROSKY Steven Frank, the new organist at Ridgewood’s St. Matthias Church, delighted a crowd at the house of worship with his inaugural organ concert on Oct. 11. Frank, who is currently the dean of the Queens Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and chair of the New York Theatre Organ Society, previously played the organ for Masses at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church in Ridgewood and St. Pancras Church in Glendale. The program marked the 35th anniversary of the death of Virgil Fox, a master organist and Frank’s mentor. During the concert, Frank performed a variety of classical compositions from acclaimed composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Charles Ives, among others. It’s a boy!
