This is what love is all about! His school, Dalton, in Manhattan where he lives, plays teams from other private schools and goes far and wide to play. That's how we sat on the frigid metal benches at torrington High school’s well-lit football field. Ben is such a great player, and with a limited number of students playing football, he is on the field in both offensive and defensive positions. Yes, he's that good. During the game, the scorekeeper in the box repeatedly announced his name as he made important plays throughout the game. My heart pounded with pride and sometimes fear as he was pummeled to the ground. What a game! Going to Connecticut also gave us a chance to visit Ben’s new family home on the lake in Lakeville. As we drove up the crunchy pebbles on the tree-lined driveway, the house emerged and the lake like a beacon of light stood behind it at the end of a green slope. It felt like déjà vu as I remembered my days growing up on Lake oscawana in Putnam County. Our house too stood a few yards from the lake and, from my third birthday, I spent every summer there. I remember the lazy days with my cousins who had houses nearby, swimming, fishing, boating, playing mahjong, canasta, and reading on our lovely lake. A memory stamped on my mind was rowing into the thick patch of water lilies in a corner of the lake to fish. And to dig for worms in the layers of leaves we had collected in the fall to catch those fish. Memories will be made too for the Broners, and I look forward to sharing them. Frigid fun We all cheered #2 Ben on to victory ‘Hamilton,’ the musical Go Mets Go! How proud and thrilled I am for our hometown heroes, the NY Mets, winning a berth in the playoffs for the first time at Citi Field. I’ve brought my kids to the games and delight in cheering the Mets on. I loved them before they became champions because their presence in Queens has enhanced our international borough. They make us proud and the world gets a peek into our world. Welcome! I’m a devoted theatre fan and when I heard there was an opportunity to see the hottest show on the “Great White Way” and see the governor too, I said “yes.” governor andrew Cuomo greeted the soldout audience sharing his passion for history and the accomplishments of his administration. “Hamilton: an american Musical,” sung entirely in rap, has been created by a man who is being credited with “changing the future of musical theater” – Lin- Manuel Miranda. Not only did he write the book, the music and lyrics, he is also the star – alexander Hamilton! He has created magic. He had won four Tony awards, as well as being a finalist for the Pulitzer for “In the Heights.” He should take home many awards for his powerful new show. It is based on the months preceding the fatal duel between Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton as written in Ron Chernow’s book, “Hamilton.” The unique, brilliant format is creatively choreographed by andy blankenbuelher. All the dialogue is sung in rap with costumes and lighting that engaged me from the moment of the curtain rising to the play’s final moments as the audience gave the cast a rousing standing ovation. I may have missed a few words but the brilliance of the music and fascinating story about our Founding Fathers was gripping. I’m bringing my daughter so I can see it again. If you love theater, this barrierbreaking musical is a must see! New York Mets pitcher Matt Harvey
