OCTOBER 13 – 19, 2016 WWW.QNS.COM 46 RIDGEWOOD TIMES SPORTS Christ the King girls varsity soccer falls 2-0 to Kennedy Catholic, but played well in loss BY JOSEPH SWIFT INFO@JSWIFTSPORTS.COM @JSWIFTSPORTS The Christ the King (CTK) girls varsity soccer team couldn’t find the back of the net on Wednesday, Oct. 5, against Kennedy Catholic at Juniper Valley Park in Middle Village, as they lost 2-0. The Royals had a few good looks, but couldn’t manage to get a goal. Although CTK was shutout, head coach John Fayad believed that his team played well. “We were ready for them, just that we had a few mistakes es defensively with the goal keeper,”r,” Fayad said. “I thought that the girls s played very well, well enough to win the game.” A silver lining in the loss was was that some of CTK’s freshman players shman playstepped ame. hing on the team really stepped up and improved their game. “This gives us something for the future. I’m happy with that part,” Fayad added. “Goalie Destiny Stribling has been working en workatural gandhopef ll Photos by Joseph Swift hard. This is not a natural position for her, but she is learning and hopefully we are learning together as a team.”
