 A futuristic commercial building
is set to rise in Astoria.
 Located at 40-17 28th Ave.,

 repair shop. Demolition permits were
approved in March and the demolition
occurred last month. According to city
records, the new structure will be a
 three-story, 14,500-square-foot building
with a total of 124 underground
 parking spaces.
The ground fl oor is reserved for a
 7,113-square-foot restaurant, and the
second and third fl oors will house
 community facility space, which can
 include medical facilities, libraries,
 child care centers, community centers,
colleges and more. The developer, Fernando
 Magalhaes of 40-17 28 Avenue
LLC, was not available for comment.
