Charles was born in Brooklyn on October 17, 1927, and remained an active businessman in the Ridgewood/Bushwick community until he became ill earlier this year. Charlie was a U.S. Navy veteran who serve during World War II and the Korean Conflict. After the war, he returned to Brooklyn and became a New York City firefighter, retiring as a captain. He was an active member of Brooklyn Community Board 4, an avid contributor to the Ridgewood Bushwick Senior Center and an active member of The Bushwick Club. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Catherine Carroll Boiselle; five children and their spouses, Charles Edward Jr. and Nora of Reno, NV, Margaret Ann of Charleston, SC, Elizabeth and Ken Breitman of Wappingers Falls, NY, JeanneMarie and Armand Patella of Towson, MD, and Andrew and Carola of Manhasset, NY; and 10 grandchildren.
