Charles was born in Brooklyn on October 17, 1927, and remained an active businessman in the Ridgewood/Bushwick community until he became ill earlier this year. Charlie was a U.S. Navy veteran who serve during World War II and the Korean Conflict. After the war, he returned to Brooklyn and became a New York City firefighter, retiring as a captain. He was an active member of Brooklyn Community Board 4, an avid contributor to the Ridgewood Bushwick Senior Center and an active member of The Bushwick Club.
