The benevolent proprietors of Topos Bookstore will host a presentation given on behalf of several members who are part of Woodbine and recently visited the Standing Rock occupation in North Dakota. In sharing their recent experience at the occupation, the hosts hope to inform members of the community in on what is really happening at Standing Rock: “We will show photos and videos, discuss the recent actions taken to block the ongoing construction of the pipeline, and go over the day-to-day organization and functioning of the various camps in and around Standing Rock, including Red Warrior, Rosebud, Sacred Stone and Sacred Ground.” The report lasts from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Topos Bookstore Cafe is located at 788 Woodward Ave. Friday, Oct. 7 Music: Etheric x Nothing Changes present PHASE FATALE, VEREKER, GREBENSTEIN, L LEWIS, AUSPEX @ Trans Pecos. The Original NYC Talent Show has been holding steady for the last couple months over at The Footlight and if you haven’t been, you need to clear you Mondays nights from this point forward. Ridgewood’s Tim Shea and Victor Varnado collectively kill it as hosts, and that’s reason enough to attend this weekly event. Come around 8:30 p.m. to sign up if you’d like to take part. The show starts at 9 p.m. with a brief intermission/writing contest. Hannibal Buress showed up a couple times, so there’s no telling what kind of night will happen.
