Coverage starts on page 18 Bandit slugs rob victim in Maspeth BY ROBERT POZARYCKI rpozarycki@ridgewoodtimes.com @robbpoz Cops arrested a Maspeth teenager last week accused of hounding a 25-yearold man for money before beating him up for his wallet. omas Davis, 17, of 60th Street was pinched f or the mugging that occurred at about 2:05 a.m. on Sept. 1 in front of a home near the corner of 60th Street and 59th Drive. According to the criminal complaint that the Queens District Attorney’s of- ce provided, Davis repeatedly asked the victim for money prior to attacking him. At one point, the suspect allegedly claimed that he was having a baby and in trouble. e victim proceeded to pull out his wallet to show him that he didn’t have any money. Police said Davis then allegedly tried to pull the wallet from the victim’s hands, then punched him about the face several times before eeing. O cers from the 104th Precinct responded to the incident. e victim suffered minor injuries. Davis was tracked down a short time later two blocks away at the corner of 59th Drive and 59th Street. Following questioning, he was arrested and charged with second-degree attempted robbery. He was ordered held on $40,000 bail at arraignment.
