Alternate-side parking and street regulations will be suspended on Monday, Sept. 1, in observance of Labor Day. Drive safely, and remember to enjoy all festivities responsibly. * * * Because of ongoing construction work at several locations throughout Queens and Brooklyn, the city DOT has announced numerous street closures in local neighborhoods for the upcoming week. The announced diversions are current as of Wednesday, Aug. 27, and weather permitting. The DOT may shut down other roads should the need for emergency repairs arise. Streets and highways that are affected by closures during this week include the following: Street Repaving In H. Bch., So. Oz. Pk. Weather permitting, DOT crews will conduct street resurfacing along the following roadways: • 90th Street between 165th Avenue and Shore Parkway in Howard Beach for paving on Thursday, Aug. 28; • 91st Street between 156th and 161st avenues in Howard Beach for paving on Friday, Aug. 29; • 134th Street between South Conduit and 155th avenues in South Ozone Park for milling on Thursday, Aug. 28; • 155th Avenue between 130th and 134th places in South Ozone Park for milling on Friday, Aug. 29; and • Shore Parkway between 90th Street and Cross Bay Boulevard in Howard Beach for paving on Thursday, Aug. 28. Parking is prohibited on these streets during work hours; all vehicles found parked will be towed away at the owner’s expense. Lane Closures On Van Wyck Expwy. One of three lanes in each direction of the Van Wyck Expressway between Jewel Avenue and Union Turnpike may be closed on Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. due to construction work related to the Kew Gardens rehabilitation project. Additionally, up to two lanes in either direction of the expressway in the same section may be closed on overnights from 1 to 5 a.m. Kew Gdns. Project Affects Union Tpke. Long-term construction related to the state Department of Transportation’s Kew Gardens Interchange project will require the right lane of Union Turnpike -SEE TRAFFIC ON PG. 66- TRANSIT NEWS and Updates Metropolitan Transportation Authority take the E train to Queens Plaza, then transfer to a Jamaica Center-bound E train. Late Night E & F Skips Van Wyck Jamaica Center-bound E trains and Jamaica-bound F trains will skip the Van Wyck Boulevard station late nights, Monday through Friday, from 11:45 p.m. to 5 a.m., through Friday, Sept. 12. Service will operate normally from 11:45 p.m. Monday, Sept. 1, through 5 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2. During this period, Jamaica-bound F trains will also skip the Sutphin Boulevard station. For service to the skipped stations, take the E train to Jamaica-Van Wyck or the F train to Parsons Boulevard, then transfer to a Manhattan-bound E or F train. For service from these stations, take the E or F train to Union Turnpike, then transfer to a Jamaica Center-bound E train or a Jamaicabound F train. Switch Of Lines For F Trains To Man. Manhattan-bound F trains will run on the M line between Roosevelt Avenue and 47th-50th Streets this weekend, from 11:15 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, until 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 1. These trains will operate express service between Roosevelt Avenue and Queens Plaza. Sunday Schedule For Labor Day All MTA New York City Transit subways and buses and all MTA Bus Company routes will operate on a Sunday schedule on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 1. Riders are advised to plan their trips accordingly. Additionally, the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) announced it would add extra eastbound trains out of Penn Station tomorrow afternoon, Friday, Aug. 29, for those looking to get an early start to the Labor Day weekend. Jamaica Center-bound E trains will run express service between Queens Plaza and Roosevelt Avenue on Friday, Aug. 29, from 12:15 until 5 a.m.F or service to the 36th Street, Steinway Street, 46th Street, Northern Boulevard and 65th Street stations, take the E train to Roosevelt Avenue, then transfer to a Manhattan-bound E train. For service from these stations, As a result, Manhattan-bound F trains will not stop at the 21st Street- Queensbridge, Roosevelt Island, Lexington Avenue-63rd Street and 57th Street stations. For service to these stations, take the F train to 47th-50th Streets, then transfer to a Jamaica-bound F train. For service from these stations, take the F train to Roosevelt Avenue, then transfer to a Manhattan-bound F train. Late Night Local Svc. Along F Line Manhattan-bound F trains will run local service between 71st- Continental Avenues and Roosevelt Avenue late nights, Tuesday through Friday, from 12:01 until 5 a.m. beginning this Wednesday, Sept. 3, and continuing through Friday, Sept. 19. Riders are advised to allow for additional travel time. Sandy Repairs Close G Train Bet. LIC & Bk. As part of the MTA’s Fix & Fortify Hurricane Sandy repair program, G train service between Court Square and Nassau Avenue is suspended through 5 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2. During this period, G trains will operate normally between Nassau Avenue and Church Avenue. Free shuttle buses will provide alternate service on two routes. One shuttle bus will run along Manhattan Avenue between Nassau Avenue and Court Square, stopping near the closed G train stations.
