Thieves rob man of
$10,000 in Sunnyside
The NYPD is looking for two men who assaulted
and robbed a man of $10,000 in Sunnyside last
month.
The robbery was allegedly the fi nal stage of a social
media scam, in which the perpetrators request
the victim produce a large sum of cash in exchange
for an even larger deposit into their bank account,
police sources said.
On Thursday, July 30, around 1:40 p.m., two unidentifi
ed men followed a 23-year-old man into 45-38
40th St., according to police.
Once in the building, the two men punched and
kicked the 23-year-old repeatedly before taking his
cell phone, house keys, a shirt and a bag that contained
$10,000, police said.
The 23-year-old was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital –
Queens, where he was treated for a fractured nose.
Both suspects are described as being around 25
years old, according to the NYPD. The fi rst suspect
was last seen wearing a blue surgical mask, a blue
shirt and black pants. The second suspect was last
seen wearing a blue surgical mask, a light-colored
baseball cap, a black shirt, pink shorts and white
sneakers.

Man punches two
strangers on 7 train
in Long Island City
The NYPD is looking for a man who randomly
punched two people aboard a Manhattan-bound 7
train in Long Island City last month.
On Monday, July 27, around 1:15 p.m., an unidentifi
ed man punched a 39-year-old man in the face repeatedly
without provocation while inside a moving
7 train, according to the NYPD.
While punching the man, the assailant noticed a
26-year-old woman fi lming the assault, according to
the police. He then punched the woman and fl ed the
train at the Queensboro Plaza station, cops said. The
man ran down to the street and the two victims were
treated at the station by EMS personnel.
Police described the man as being in his 20s. He
was last seen wearing an orange shirt, white shorts
and red and white sneakers.
No arrests have been made and the investigation
is ongoing.
