One Queens lawmaker has secured
$225,000 in funding for
additional garbage pickup on
major roadways in Glendale, Maspeth,
Middle Village and Ridgewood.
On Monday, Aug. 7, Councilwoman
Elizabeth Crowley gathered with
members of the New York City Department
of Sanitation (DSNY), community
leaders, and business owners at the
intersection of Metropolitan Avenue
and 74th Street in Middle Village to
announce the nearly quarter of a
million dollar investment which will
go towards keeping the vital corridors
running cleanly and eff ectively.
“A clean corridor is not only welcoming
for local residents and people visiting,
it also helps our businesses grow.
We all know that small businesses are
the backbone of our economy, and
their energy is best spent on growing
their businesses,” Crowley said. “My
thanks to Sanitation, community leaders
and business owners who ensure
these corridors continue to thrive.”
With the funding, DSNY will provide
39 weeks of service along Grand
Avenue in Maspeth, Metropolitan Avenue
in Middle Village, Myrtle Avenue

“The Department of Sanitation is
pleased to work with Council Member
Crowley to provide additional
services along Metropolitan Avenue,
Fresh Pond Road, Myrtle Avenue and
Grand Avenue in Council District
30,” said Sanitation Commissioner
Kathryn Garcia. “The Department
has found that partnerships are an
essential tool in accomplishing goals.
Elected offi cials, city residents and
Sanitation can work together to make
our neighborhoods a source of pride
to the people who live and work there.”
