Van Bramer kicks off another school supply drive
A Sunnyside-based legislator is
working again to make sure
kids in need in western Queens
have a backpack full of school supplies
for this coming school year.
On Aug. 8, City Councilman Jimmy
Van Bramer partnered with the
Queens Library to launch the 8th
Annual Back to School Supplies Drive
for kids around western Queens.
From now until Sept. 5, members of
the community can drop off school
supplies, such as backpacks, calculators,
notebooks, pencils, crayons,
and rulers, to various locations in
Queens. The supplies will be distributed
to children in District 26
before the start of the school year
on Sept. 7.
“No child should have to go to
school without the supplies they
need to do their best,” said Van
Bramer. “With the upcoming school
year fast approaching, many families
in our community struggle
with the cost of supplies that are
required and have to make tough
choices that could leave a child without
necessarily supplies like notebooks,
a backpack, or a calculator.
