More than $165,000 was raised by teams of family members, friends, coworkers and community activists who took part in the Relay for Life at Juniper Valley Park in Middle Village on June 11. Volunteers ran or walked laps around the Brennan Field running track through the night and into the following morning to raise funds for the American Cancer Society’s research and treatment programs. Teams camped out on the track and enjoyed food, music, games and entertainment in between laps. The opening ceremony on Saturday featured the “Survivors’ Lap,” in which local cancer survivors took the track on their own and lapped to mark their battle against the illness. Photos by Ruthie Stephens Children of all ages enjoyed a day of sweet treats and fun activities during the Greater Ridgewood Historical Society’s annual strawberry festival on the grounds of the historic Onderdonk House on June 11. The program included vintage cars from the East Coast Car Association, games, kite flying, music and tours of the landmark Onderdonk House, a farm house dating back to the colonial period.
