TIMES, THURSDAY, JUNE 5, 2014 • 12 Woodhaven Block Membership Drive The Woodhaven Residents’ Block Association (WRBA) has launched its membership drive for 2014, an effort to increase the number of Woodhaven’s 39,000 residents who are part of the WRBA and its work. The drive represents the organization’s first major recruitment effort in several years. It began with a mailing to all current members, asking them to renew their membership and to bring at least one new member aboard. To enable prospective members to learn about the organization, the WRBA will hold an “open house” this Saturday, June 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the WRBA’s office, located at 84-20 Jamaica Ave. Anyone interested is invited to stop by. “The block association’s members are its lifeblood. Without members at our town halls, at our events, and at our rallies, our organization would not be able to accomplish all it does,” said WRBA Treasurer Steve Forte, who is spearheading the membership drive. “If you’re not already a member, please join us. And if you are, please convince a neighbor to enroll too.” To become a member of the WRBA, a person must be a resident within the ZIP code 11421 and be at least 17 years old.
