Hynes may have broken the law, according to a city Department of Investigation report. by Robert Pozarycki Police released the images of two men accused of breaking into Rego Park businesses early last Wednesday morning, May 28. Both suspects were described by law enforcement sources as white males between 17 and 20 years of age, standing between 5’8”- and 5’11”-tall and wearing light-colored t-shirts. Reportedly, the crooks first made their way into a dental office located at 94-24 63rd Dr. at about 2:52 a.m. last Wednesday. Despite searching the office, authorities said, the perpetrators fled from the scene empty-handed. About a half-hour later, police noted, the burglars entered the Petland Discounts shop at 94-18 63rd Dr. Once inside the establishment, they reportedly removed birds and bird cages, then fled from the scene Published on The New York Times website on Tuesday, June 3, the 27- page summary indicated that Hynes, now 79, allegedly used proceeds from the state asset forfeiture division for campaign expenditures, misused his official email for campaign purposes and sought political advice from State Supreme Court Justice Barry Kamins. According to The New York Times, Kamins was “relieved of all administrative duties.” Several high-ranking members of Hynes’ staff were also implicated in the probe for possible City Charter violations. The city Department of Investigation (DOI) launched the inquiry last November after receiving complaints from two undisclosed government entities regarding alleged misconduct by Hynes, who last year lost the Kings County District Attorney’s (KCDA) office he had occupied since 1989. Current Brooklyn District Attorney Ken Thompson defeated Hynes in last September’s primary in a bitter campaign. Gerard J. Laclair of the 108th Precinct received the Cop of the Month award during the 108th Precinct Community Council meeting last Tuesday night, May 27, at Sunnyside Community Services. Reportedly, Laclair was on dutiy in the area of 43rd Street in Sunnyside on May 21 when he observed two men punch a victim, then run away. Following a brief foot pursuit, Laclair apprehended the two suspects. At last Tuesday’s meeting, Capt. Richard Hellman, the 108th Precinct’s executive officer, presented the officer with a plaque donated by the Times Newsweekly on behalf of the absent Capt.
