WWW.QNS.COM RIDGEWOOD TIMES MAY 11, 2017 47 Flyers soar high at Ray Suarez Memorial Meet BY ANTHONY GIUDICE AGIUDICE@RIDGEWOODTIMES.COM @A_GIUDICEREPORT The boys and girls of the St. Margaret/Resurrection Ascension Flyers participated in the Ray Suarez Memorial Meet on Sunday, April 30, and were able to take home a plethora of medals. Kicking off the gold medal wins was senior boy Owen Kelly, who received gold for his long jump. Junior boy Kacper Niepokoj was awarded a gold medal for his 800-meter run. Also receiving first place medals for their long jumps were peewees Sadie Donahue and Jake Giffone. Receiving silver medals for their performances were novice boys Finn Healing, Anthony Pedicini, Gavin Walsh, and Ethan Joseph, as well as peewee Jenna Giff one. Bringing home the bronze medals were bantam girls Aileen Mitarotonda, Olaia Higgins, Madeline Mauceri, and Caroline Gordon. Also placing third was novice boy Frank Santoro for his 400-meter run. Bronze medals were also awarded to senior boy John Boger, bantam boy Thomas Fischer, and novice girl Grace Finnegan for their fourth place fi nishes in the Long Jump. Senior boy Nicholas Catapano received a bronze medal for his fi ft h place win in the 800-meter run, while bantam boys Sean Walsh, Josiah Boulet, and Unai Higgins, along with junior boy Victor Ostling, won bronze for their fi ft h place fi nish in the 800-meter relay. Also receiving bronze were peewees Emily Pedicini, Olivia Santoro, Dylan Isca, and James Gordon for their 50-yard dash; and bantam boy Kevin Isca for his 100-yard dash. BW Gottschee girls win one for their coach on his birthday BWG Girls U15 team celebrating their victory and their coach’s birthday. BY ANTHONY GIUDICE AGIUDICE@RIDGEWOODTIMES.COM @A_GIUDICEREPORT The Blau Weiss Gottschee (BWG) Girls U15 team did a lot of celebrating on Saturday, May 6, as they defeated West Babylon by a score of 3-1. It was also their Photo courtesy of BWG Soccer coach Timon’s birthday, so the girls had another reason to celebrate. In the New York City Football Club (NYCFC) League, the BWG 2005 teams won both games against New York Soccer Club, 5-3, and 3-1. The BWG 2006 teams tied one game and won the second games against NYSC, 1-1 and 6-5.
