2 MAY 4, 2017 RIDGEWOOD TIMES WWW.QNS.COM M.V. sewer project restricts parking for residents BY ANTHONY GIUDICE AGIUDICE@RIDGEWOODTIMES.COM @A_GIUDICEREPORT The city’s Department of Design and Construction (DDC) will be coming to Middle Village this week to continue work related to the Penelope Avenue sewer project, and you know what that means: parking restrictions. As the agency prepares to install combined sewers in the neighborhood to help the aging sewer system retain and move more water, especially during periods of heavy rainfall to prevent fl ooding, the DDC will need to restrict parking at their work locations. The work dates, times and locations are as follows: Starting on or about Monday, May 1, to Tuesday, May 2, the DDC will eliminate curbside parking and restrict driveway access on Juniper Valley Road between 75th Place and 77th Street as workers cut into the street to dig a sewer trench. Vehicles needed to be moved prior to 7 a.m. on May 1. Then, on or about Wednesday, May 3, to Thursday, May 4, there will be no curbside parking or driveway access on Gray Street from Juniper Valley Road to 66th Drive due to additional sewer trench cutting. Vehicles must be moved from the streets before 7 a.m. on May 3. Also, on or about May 3 to May 4, there will be temporary suspension of curbside parking and driveway access on the west side of 74th Street between Pleasantview Street and Penelope Avenue for tree removal in conjunction with the sewer project. Cars must be moved from the area before 7 a.m. on May 3. Finally, on or about Friday, May 5, DDC will need to again eliminate curbside parking and restrict driveway access on 66th Road from Gray Street to 77th Street, and on 77th Street between 66th Road and Gray Street for cutting work for the new sewer trenches. Vehicles must be removed from the street and driveways prior to 7 a.m. on May 5. It may become necessary for DDC to modify some scheduled work locations and operations due to any unforeseen conditions from the weather, fi eld conditions or other circumstances. In all instances, during the time of construction only emergency vehicles will have full access to the streets. Pedestrian access at the locations will be maintained at all times. DDC will also monitor their operations and work within the DEP Noise Code regulations. Full access to driveways and street parking will be returned when construction is completed on each block. Signs will be posted in the aff ected areas. If you have any questions, concerns, or would like to learn more about the project, please call the project’s Community Construction Liaison (CCL) Lisbeth Lora, at 718-326-3840 or 917-715-0536 or email her at penelopeaveccl@ gmail.com or visit the NYC DDC website at www.nyc.gov/ddc.
