Forest Hills senior center hosts weeklong free Mother’s Day events starting this weekend BY ANTHONY GIUDICE AGIUDICE@RIDGEWOODTIMES.COM @A_GIUDICEREPORT A senior living community in Forest Hills has found the perfect gift to give the mothers that they care for — the gift of time with their children, just in time for Mother’s Day. The staff at Atria Senior Living has created a weeklong itinerary of events in celebration of Mother’s Day that will make it easier for family members and loved ones to give “Gift s of Time” to the ones they call “Mom.” “For many of us, our mom is one of the most important and infl uential people in our lives,” said Julianne Bertini, Engage Life Specialist at Atria Forest Hills. “But moms can be hard to shop for, and adult children are also oft en busy with children of their own, along with jobs and other responsibilities. Our goal is to make it easy this year to give the greatest gift of all — time.” These free events are open to not only Atria residents and their families, but the general public as well. The weeklong celebration kicks off on Sunday, May 7, with a potpourri making class at 3:15 p.m. Then, on Wednesday, May 10, there will be a sensual scents for moms class at 11 a.m. The festivities continue on Thursday, May 11, with a cooking demonstration at 3 p.m. where Atria staff chefs will be cooking recipes provided to them by the mothers at the senior living center. On Saturday, May 13, Atria is inviting everyone to a mother-daughter yoga session led by Atria’s own yoga teacher, Amara, at 10 a.m. Finally, on Sunday, May 14 — the actual date of Mother’s Day — Atria will host a Mother’s Day wine pairing event, where staff chefs will put together an intricate wine pairing with a wide variety of wines, foods and desserts.
