Weekend full of wins for Blau Weiss Gottschee
Last weekend, the Blau Weiss
Gottschee teams were busy
playing against different Developmental
Academies teams from
around the area area.
It turned to be a perfect weekend as
every team in action won their games
while displaying good soccer.
The younger teams faced Met Oval
Academy at Juniper Valley Park and
won all four games.
The 2008 Blue and White teams
trounced Met Oval’s counterparts,
winning 8-1 and 14-0 respectively. The
2007 teams also swept the series from
Met Oval, with the Blue team winning
2-1 and the White team triumphing by
a 3-1 score.
Meanwhile, three older BWG teams
faced TSF Academy from New Jersey
and won all four games. The 2006 Blue
squad won their game 4-2, while the
White team won 5-1. The BWG 2005
team defeated their TSF counterparts
by a 2-1 score, while the 2004 BWG
team cruised to a 4-0 shutout.
Four additional BWG teams, the
U15, U16, U17 and U19 squads, swept
four games against Beachside from
Connecticut.
Finally, Jack McGlynn a 2003
player who developed at Blue Weiss

National Team competing in the Torneo
Delle Nazioni in Italy. Jack is part
of the Under 17 BWG academy team
and already captained the USA 16s in
the past.
The USA 1's will face Libya, Italy and
Croatia."
Maspeth boys’ track team
competes in Mayor’s Cup
The Maspeth High School boys’
track team competed in the
2018 Mayor’s Cup Track & Field
Championships at Icahn Stadium on
Randall’s Island on April 14 aft er a
number of impressive performances
qualifi ed them for the event.
The boys 4 x 100 meter relay team
of William Huang, Kwan Williams,
Chan Wei Lin and Wilbert Santos
qualifi ed by placing in the top 50 in
the city, and Santos also qualifi ed for
the 100 meter sprint by placing in the
top 50 himself.
While the Argonauts did not take
home any medals, assistant head
coach Kresimir Mustac said he was
proud of the way they competed.
“You can see the passion and desire
in the boys that competed,” Mustac
said. “They were distraught that
they couldn’t move on to the fi nals.
I reminded them not be upset over
what wasn’t accomplished but to use
this negative feeling as motivation to
make you want to do better.”
