The Creek & The Cave host the
performance arts show, New York
City Talent Show, an event that has
been called the world’s greatest open
stage and a real NYC tradition. Since
the show started over a decade ago by
Debra and Victor Varnado, the NYC
performance show has hosted greats
such as Kristen Schaal, Hannibal
Buress, Jim Gaffi gan and Jonathan
Aimes. The show runs every Friday,
creating a welcoming space for
performers. This space is advertised
as an environment where anyone can
feel comfortable performing.

Lions Club will have a community
meeting on reducing housing costs
and the virtual senior rent increase
exemption on Saturday. The NYC
Department of Finance will discuss
the following: Disability Rent
Increase Exemption, Senior Citizen
Homeowners’ Exemption and Disabled
Homeowners’ Exemption. Participants
should also expect a presentation on
the new Virtual Senior Center. The
Virtual Senior Center teaches older
adults how to use digital tools such as
Skype and email. This will help them
connect and build relationships with
peers, as well as staying up-to-date
with modern technology.

The Newtown Literary Alliance
off ers free writing classes for teens at
the Queens Library in Jackson Heights.
In this workshop, participants will
write and read poetry that discusses
topics such as migration, class, race
and family. This series, “Poems That
Tell Stories” will be taught by Belal
Mobarak. Mobarak was a finalist
in Brutal Nation’s Competition in
2017. His work has been published in
Columbia Poetry Review, Newtown
Literary, Blueshift Journal, Flock,
Apogee, HEart and others.

The NYC Audubon invites you to
grab your binoculars, and join them
on an early morning bird walk. Is there
any better way to start your Sunday?
Birdwatchers will walk through the
Queens Botanical Garden trails while
observing the wildlife. The trail will
have rough terrain, and may not be
suitable for those with limited mobility.

to experience the Flight of the Butterfl ies,
a 3-D movie that takes visitors on a
treacherous yet captivating journey. In
the 3-D theater, visitors are a part of the
monarch butterfl y’s journey. Visitors
watch their migration patterns closely,
witnessing thousands fl y through the
peaks of Mexico. Experience what 40
years of research looks like to fi nd the
monarch butterfl y’s secret hideaway.
The Washington Post described the 3-D
fi lm as “engrossing.” The exhibit will
run from July 1, 2018, to June 30, 2019.

Recreate the fi rst Passover Seder held right aft er World War II at the
Kupferberg Holocaust Center in Bayside. Remember the Holocaust survivors
by reenacting the Jewish ritual feast. Friday, April 19, marks the beginning of
