Sherman Knights of Columbus and the New York Hospital Queens Blood Center held on Good Friday at Sacred Heart Church in Glendale. The Knights were grateful to Sacred Heart pastor Fr. John Fullum for allowing volunteers to use the church basement for the day-long drive. Giving Howard Beach Kiwanian his endorsement Local crossing guards honored in Maspeth Middle Village show about a ‘Lucky Stiff’ As part of Women’s History Month, Assemblywoman Margaret Markey celebrated the work of local crossing guards during a ceremony last month at her district office in Maspeth. She presented official New York State Assembly citations to each of the 40 women who attended the ceremony at her district office, while officers from the 104th, 108th, 110th and 114th precincts looked on. The guards are assigned to protect children and pedestrians near local schools including P.S. 153, P.S. 229, P.S. 58 and St. Stanislaus, Our Lady of Hope and Resurrection Ascension schools. Maggie’s Little Theater will raise the curtain later this month on its spring production of the musical “Lucky Stiff.” The musical comedy by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, based on Michael Butterworth’s novel, “The Man who Broke the Bank at Monte Carlo,” is directed by Tom Williams, with music by Paul Johnson and choreography by Whitney Stone. The cast includes Ellen Armet; Annice, Barbara and Frank Auriemma; Nydia Blackshear; Lisa N. Bondi; Anthony Faubion; Jim Gillespie; Don Gormanly; Kim Guarino; Jenna Kantor; Erik Neilssen; Joe Paciullo; Ken Voisin and Mark York.
