Report: Maspeth’s one-bedroom rental prices soared in the last three months

A recent look at prices for one-bedroom
rentals this winter found
that a southwest Queens neighborhood
saw a boost in price.
Zumper, a company which claims that
it seeks to redesign the rental market
for the 21st century, recently released
their New York City Neighborhood Rent
Prices Map for Winter 2019. The report
found that New York City as a whole remained
the second most expensive city
in the country, with median one-bedroom
rent prices at $2,750.
Maspeth had one of the fastest-growing
rent prices last quarter, in comparison
to neighborhoods in Brooklyn, the
Bronx, Manhattan and a select number
of Queens neighborhoods. According to
Zumper, Maspeth’s median one-bedroom
rental prices went up to $1,650, marking
a 10 percent increase overall.
However, while the Zumper report
indicated that Maspeth is one of the
more aff ordable options in Queens, a
few neighborhoods in the “World’s Borough”
had lower median rental prices.
According to additional information
provided to QNS by Zumper, Springfi
eld Gardens and Cambria Heights
were the most aff ordable neighborhoods,
pricing out at $1,100 and $1,300,
respectively. Other neighborhoods
that fell within the same price range
as Maspeth included Rego Park and
Richmond Hill ($1,650), Middle Village
($1,675), Elmhurst ($1,690) and Rockaway
Park ($1,600).
Among the more expensive neighborhoods
for one-bedroom rentals,
according to Zumper, were Long Island
City ($2,990), Astoria ($2,075), Sunnyside
($1,950), East Elmhurst ($1,950) and
Ridgewood ($1,900).
