With the holiday season upon us, it’s the time to give gratitude for our family and friends. For our staff in Brooklyn and Queens, Josh and I paid tribute to them at a staff party at Vivaldi Ristorante, in Bayside alongside the service road of the Cross Island Parkway, the perfect place for a company party. They went all out giving us a superb evening of great food, drinks and service. Everyone raved about each dish served that night. And my “party planner” Demetra, who runs many of our events, did a great job organizing the evening. Bob Brennan, our incomparable COO, has served as the “master of ceremonies,” and I love how he comes up with trivia questions each year challenging everyone to guess the answers for cash prizes! He almost stumped everyone by asking them to guess how many pages of copy we put out in both Brooklyn and Queens last year. The answer, 15,924, stunned me, too! Each year we honor and recognize our employees, but we gave new awards to the people who have been with us for over 10 years. Each one has assisted me in achieving the success of our company. They are Graziella, Stephen, Ron, Mona, Gary, Stella, Shiela, Ralph, Nirmal, Maria, Jen, Adele and Ilene. It gave me great pleasure to recognize Graziella, my assistant, as the Employee of the Year. She earned it by being not only of great help to me but also as the “go-to” person for everyone on staff. Whether it’s help with their account or their computer, “Yes” is the answer. I’m so proud of her! Other winners were Angela (Employee of the Year- Brooklyn), Alan (Salesperson of the Year-Queens) and Mona (Salesperson of the Year-Brooklyn). Publisher’s Awards went to Cristabelle (Editorial Excellence-Queens), Meaghan (Editorial Excellence-Brooklyn), Stephen (Art and Design), Sheila (Sales), Ilene (Sales) and Demetra (Event Sales).
