“Fairy Tale: World Music
from Korea.” The program
features traditional Korean
instruments including daegeum
(bamboo flute), haegeum
(fiddle) and geomungo
(folk zither), accompanied
by traditional vocals (jeongga),
piano and percussion.
It’s Fairy Tale’s U.S. concert
debut, and they’ll be performing
music inspired by
traditional Korean poems
and songs. Tickets are $16,

Festival and Tree Lighting
celebration at Astoria
Park’s Great Lawn There
will be train rides, holiday
performances and popcorn
will be served. The
tree lighting is scheduled for
5 p.m., but the fun gets started
at 2 p.m. at 19th Street
and 23rd Avenue.
10 Whitestone will
deck the halls in
style with its tree lighting
at the Harpell’s Pharmacy
parking lot. It’s sponsored
by Councilman Paul Vallone,
the We Love Whitestone
Civic Association and local
merchants. The lighting will
include refreshments and
entertainment. Santa Claus
is also scheduled to stop by.
The event will run from 3
until 6 p.m., with the tree
lighting scheduled to take
place at 5 p.m. at 150th
Street and 14th Avenue.

Christmas fair. Vendors
will be selling gourmet food,
