Gleason Funeral Home L.L.C.: The Preferred Choice Richard Joseph Devine Richard Joseph Devine was born on February 10, 1929 in College Point. He worked at Lily Tulip Cup Company in College Point, where he met his wife of 39 years, Catherine (Kay). He worked numerous jobs, but his fi rst real job was on the trading fl oor of the New York Stock Exchange as a “runner.” He also worked for the United States Postal Service, drove a soda truck route, drove a route selling ice cream out of a Good Humor truck and worked as a chauffeur, most recently to Mrs. Irene Diamond of the Aaron Diamond Foundation before his retirement in 2002. Devine proudly served as a staff sergeant in the United States Air Force, stationed in Texas and Geneva, New York. He was an avid sports fan who loved the New York Mets and New York Giants. Devine was predeceased by his wife and son-in-law, Michael Mount. He is survived by his two loving daughters, Diane Devine-Mount of Whitestone and Patricia Buchholz, and devoted son-in-law Christopher Buchholz, as well as grandson Corey Buchholz and his wife Allison. Arrangements were handled by the Martin A. Gleason Funeral Home in Whitestone. A Mass of Christian burial was held at St. Fidelis R.C. Church. Interment was at Calverton National Cemetery.
