Five years ago, Superstorm Sandy devastated many families in Queens, including those who were
relying on the daily help and support of the Peninsula Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Post
Sandy, Peninsula’s supportive and dedicated staff worked tirelessly to ensure that members of
the community could receive the daily care they require to enjoy their quality of life. The Peninsula
team took the opportunity to assess the community’s needs and determined there was a
demand for additional clinical services to support a healthier lifestyle. One such need was Hemodialysis;
many patients were traveling to other boroughs to receive the treatment.
Peninsula Nursing and Rehabilitation Center recently opened a dialysis treatment facility
equipped with 20 heated, reclining chairs that place comfort on the forefront of receiving treatment.
Under the leadership of board certified nephrologist Dr. Raipal Chopra, social workers and
clinical professionals work with each individual and their family to ensure they feel supported
throughout the treatment. The center offers both in-patient and out-patient dialysis and accommodates
patients with additional clinical needs by providing treatment monitoring by on site
nursing staff.
On Thursday October 19th, Cassena Kidney Care at Peninsula held a Grand Opening providing
information about renal care options and tours of the brand-new facility. Renal care professionals
had the opportunity to learn that patient care and comfort drives the program at Cassena Kidney
Care at Peninsula.
