In 15 years or so the world is projected to have 8 billion people, two-thirds of whom will be city dwellers. City authorities, urban planners, designers and economists all over the world will have to pool their knowledge and resource to keep the globe’s ever expanding megacities habitable. Attend “Uneven Growth” a two-day workshop, at MoMA P.S. 1 for presentations and a moderated discussion. For more information, call 718-437-3276 SUNDAY, OCTOBER 27 The College Point Boulevard Fair begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 6 p.m. This street fair takes place on College Point Boulevard between 14th and 20th Avenues. Arts, crafts, food and commercial vendors will be present and available for casual perusing. Runners and hobbyists welcomed to participate in the 12th annual “Totten Trot,” a 5K foot race through the fort and on the esplanade overlooking Little Neck Bay along the Joe Michael’s Mile. The race begins at 9 a.m. Sign-in however, begins at 7:30 a.m. Runners will be divided into divisions by age and gender. Cash prizes are available for overall winners male and female. 1st place is awarded $75, 2nd place $50, and third place $25. ‘From Venice With Love’ SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 10, Singer Giada Valenti, accompanied by her six-piece band, will take her audience on a spirited and vibrant journey through American and Italian popular music. Performing her own renditions of American and Italian hits from the 60s, 70s, and 80s, she is sure to enchant! This show “From Venice With Love” will later this year be fi lmed by PBS. Through OCTOBER 31 Don’t miss the chance to take a look at “Gap Ecology (Three still lives with Cherry Pickers and palms),” a site specifi c installation by David Brooks. “Gap Ecology” is a large scale installation consisting of three 60’ lifts (cherry pickers), each holding baskets with lush plant life. Gap Ecology is supposed to be a beacon of sustainability, resiliency and urban environmental design. This installation is on display at the Socrates Sculpture Park from 10 a.m. until sunset.
