FOR BREAKING NEWS VISIT www.queenscourier.com october 23, 2014 • The Queens Courier 43 Prophecy and Fulfillment Many of us read the Bible without understanding the true meaning this sacred book has held for thousands of years. If we come to fully understand the Old and the New Testament, we would be astonished by how much we can understand God and our savior Jesus. The prophecies of the Old Testament were fulfilled by Jesus (Isa14:24). He also gave us the prophecies of the New Testament. He will fulfill the promises at his second coming. Thus, he will allow us to believe, like his 12 disciples believed 2,000 years ago (Jn14:29). Now, please read very carefully the words I am about to write because they are not my words but the words of the sovereign God, our Father, and creator of all things. In Jeremiah 31:27 there was a promise two seeds sown in the house of Judah and house of Israel; the seed of man and the seed of animals. This prophecy of Jeremiah fulfilled at Jesus’ first coming (Mt13:24-30). Jesus mentioned this parable and explained it would repeat once more at the time of the end: the harvest. In other words, the prophecy of Jeremiah was fulfilled through Jesus’ first coming. It will happen again at the end. So, where in the bible are the teachings of Jesus in Mt13:24- 30? It is explained in Revelation 14:6-16. However, it is often difficult to understand the words of prophecy because they are mostly written in figurative language. The prophecies are often shown to the prophets in vision (Hos12:10). Jesus taught without completely explaining all things openly in his first coming (Jn16:12). Even Jesus’ disciples wanted to know why he was speaking figuratively and not explaining clearly. This is why Jesus said, “The knowledge of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you but not to them” (Mt13:11). He also spoke in this manner to fulfill the prophecy he would speak in this manner (Mt13:34-35). We can understand what is written through this column. It is important to understand the Scriptures. The Bible contains the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old Testament prophecies are fulfilled at the first coming of Jesus and the prophecies of the New Testament are fulfilled at the time of the harvest. These prophecies are written in parables until the time of the end, according to God’s will (Dn12:8-10). When the time comes, it will be opened, so all people can understand the will of the Father clearly (Jn16:25). Just as a doctor studies medicine, and any other professional is required to know their field, religious people should know the book they read. It is time for Christians to understand the Bible and put their hope in God’s promise. I hope this brief message provided understanding of the Word. I hope you, as a believer, are more interested in the Word of God!
