Tony Roma’s closed, new eatery to take its place By Suzanne Monteverdi [email protected] @smont76 Put that rib bib away, Bayside: Tony’s Roma’s in Bay Terrace has closed. The restaurant — a franchise location of the chain famous for its barbecue ribs and steaks — closed suddenly this week after being open for business just this weekend. Construction workers could be seen this afternoon clearing out the space. The Bay Terrace location is no longer listed on the Tony Roma’s website location search. A print-out posted on the restaurant’s doors on Tuesday, Oct. 4, suggested that a new restaurant run by the same management would take over the space after undergoing a few months of renovations. But the next day, a new letter replacing the original was posted on the doors of the restaurant, which appeared makes the future of the location less certain. “As of October 4, 2016, Tony Roma’s restaurant has closed down. We would like to thank everyone for support and patronage over the years. Hope to see you soon,” reads the letter. Even so, a representative from Cord Meyer Development Company — owner of the Bay Terrace Shopping Center — told QNS that the restaurant’s operators plan on reopening a family-style Italian restaurant at the location in the new year.
