Christ the King girls varsity soccer blanks Mary Louis Academy 6-0 By Joseph Swift [email protected]/@jswiftsports The Christ the King (CTK) High School girls varsity soccer team’s defense was the highlight of the afternoon as the Royals defeated Mary Louis Academy 6-0 on Wednesday, Sept. 28, at Cunningham Park in Fresh Meadows. Karen Pined and Kiana Leger both came through with two goals each for CTK. Malen Arevalo and Genesis Campos added one goal each, sealing the victory for the Royals. “We were hoping that this game would be a good one for us,” said John Fayad, CTK head coach, after the game. “The girls were controlling the game from the beginning.” Fayed added that goalie Destiny came through for the team in the shutout and has been working very hard since goalie is not her normal position. A lot of the girls played well on the defensive line, helping Destiny secure a clean sheet. Diana, one of CTK captains, had an amazing game and controlled most of the backfield. Freshmen Marilyn Salazar was controlling the left side of the field. “We are happy with how the game went,” she said. Photo by Joseph Swift Photos via Archbishop Molloy High School/Facebook
