Lebowitz of Forest Hills Joins Garden City Law Firm Jaspan Schlesinger LLP announced that the Hon. Jeffrey D. Lebowitz, who recently retired as a Court of Claims judge and Acting Supreme Court Justice in Queens County, has joined the firm as Special Counsel. A resident of Forest Hills, Judge Lebowitz will focus his practice on matrimonial and family legal matters as well as general litigation. “Between his vast knowledge and experience in the field of justice and his background in law, he will be a tremendous asset to Jaspan Schlesinger, and we look forward to working with him,” said managing partner Steven R. Schlesinger. SCHOLARSHIP LOCAL LEADERS HONORED Queens County Young Democrats honor local leaders at Summer Bash Members of the Queens County Young Democrats (QCYD) gathered at Rocky McBride’s for the organization’s Eighth Annual Summer Bash. The celebration was an opportunity for members and young professionals from the community to meet and mingle with local leaders and elected officials. At the event, QCYD honored five local leaders who have dedicated themselves to serving the community and have helped spread Democratic values across Queens. QCYD honored Assemblyman Francisco Moya (D-Jackson Heights), Council Member Julissa Ferreras (D-Corona), Democratic District Leader Jorge Fanjul as Community Leader of the Year, Program & Field Coordinator for the New York City Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO Sean Mackell as Labor Leader of the Year, and former QCYD President Nick Roloson as Young Democrat of the Year. They were also joined by Congressman Joe Crowley (D-Queens, the Bronx), Council Member Costa Constantinides (D-Astoria), as well as Democratic candidates for New York State Senate John Liu (11th Senate District) and Leroy Comrie (14th Senate District), both of whom the organization previously endorsed. 91-year-old car for sale in queens Queens residents just might see a blast from the past while driving around the borough. Taylor Moss of Howard Beach awarded NLEAFCF scholarship Taylor Moss of Howard Beach was announced as one of the 23 students across the country to be awarded a scholarship from the National Law Enforcement and Firefighters Children’s Foundation (NLEAFCF). The award is based on financial need and academic merit, and the recipients are all children of a law enforcement officer or firefighter who was killed or permanently disabled in the line of duty. Taylor’s father, Lt. Steven Albert Moss, responded to the World Trade Center on 9/11 and worked on the site in the days and weeks after. He developed significant breathing problems as a result of his work and was subsequently placed on disability. Taylor attended Archbishop Molloy High School and plans to attend the College of the Holy Cross, majoring in biology and playing Division 1 softball. Her goal is to become a doctor of pharmacy to help others in need.
