The Pavilion in Flushing hosts a health expo
Among the live music, free
food and fi dget spinner giveaways,
Th e Pavilion at Queens
for Rehabilitation & Nursing in
Flushing took a huge fi rst step in
making a healthier community.
Recently, the hospital partnered
with New York-
Presbyterian Queens, Flushing
Hospital Medical Center and the
YMCA to bring together the fi rst
ever Health Fair Expo for over
600 people.
Th e expo had an array of different
events going on. Th is
includes health-based services
such as BMI testing, cholesterol
and glucose testing, oral cancer
testing and other dental checks,
ventilator care, and physician
and nutrition consulting.
Booths were also set up with
food from diff erent Flushing
community markets, face painting,
and balloon making, the
FDNY had a table to teach fi re
safety.
Th ere was also a live band, the
YMCA had a free yoga class, and
there were also giveaways where
people received free fi dget spinners,
water bottles, and over 600
cups of bubble tea.
Asher Frankel, the Director
of Marketing and Strategic
Planning at Th e Pavilion, says
that while this was “a very big
success”, this is only the beginning.
“Th is is going to be the fi rst of
an annual event,” said Frankel.
“Next year will be much bigger.
More hospitals will be involved
and we will have more giveaways.
Th e goal of this Expo and
future events is to give back
to the community around Th e
Pavilion.
“Th e support we get from the
community is unparalleled. We
can’t wait to do it again next
year,” said Frankel.
