Her responsibilities focus on overseeing individual, group and agency-wide efforts to help female entrepreneurs launch and improve their businesses. Ormeño, 24, has risen through the ranks at QEDC since she started as a part-time marketer in February 2008. She quickly became a fulltime employee, and in November 2010 shifted gears to run the PRIME MicroEntrepreneur program. It provides low-income individuals with professional business-development assistance such as one-on-one counseling, specialized workshops and training courses and microloan resources. A native of Ecuador who speaks fluent Spanish and English, Ormeño has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Queens College. This fall, she will start a master’s program in the same subject there. She is a GrowthWheel certified advisor, specializing in finance and development, and has a certificate in economic development finance training from the National Development Council. “I’m really happy that Andrea is taking over our Women’s Business Center,” said QEDC Executive Director Seth Bornstein. “This is part of our philosophy of promoting from within the agency, and Andrea is extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of financing and business development. She also speaks Spanish and has tremendous social skills mixed with a keen desire to help others.” Vivaldi celebrates grand opening Vivaldi, at 201-10 Cross Island Parkway, celebrated its grand opening on July 23. “I feel excellent for being able to bring it to opening day today,” said operator George Makkos. “I’m happy to be here.” The restaurant replaces Patrizia’s of Bayside. It was also once Caffe on the Green and Valentino’s on the Green. Lolli On Friday, July 19, a large and diverse crowd of real estate agents, brokers, franchisees, and well-wishers gathered to celebrate the grand opening of Rapid Realty NYC’s newest franchise, located at 48-17 43rd Avenue in Sunnyside. The event was a “white party,” with many of the attendees dressed in head-to-toe white. This marks the rental giant’s 64th franchise overall, and the sixth in Queens. The owner, Luis Santa, was joined by his family as he cut the ceremonial ribbon alongside Rapid Realty CEO Anthony Lolli and COO Carlos Angelucci. The assembled agents and franchisees welcomed Santa to the team with a chant of, “1-2-3, Rapid Realty! 1-2-3, success!” Later, the crowd danced the night away at an after-party at Mamajuana Café in Woodside.
