The Theaterama, in which Queens Theatre is housed, is one of only three buildings constructed for the 1964 World’s Fair that is still standing. The event is from July 18 to July 27. Queens Council on the Arts’ Third Space is proud to present Amy Wu and the launch of QNSMADE, a webbased project that celebrates the stories of Queens through a series of portraits and interviews. QNSMADE features artists, makers and doers who were either born and raised in Queens or who live in Queens now. Refreshments will be provided by Anthem Craft Soda, with Taiwanese comfort food by Outer Borough, and snow cream by Snowdays. SATURDAY, JULY 19 Listen to Dr. Zsa’s Powdered Zydeco Band at the Queens Library at Cambria Heights at 1p.m. Dr. Zsa’s Powdered Zydeco Band’s repertoire includes Cajun folk, zydeco, New Orleans funk, swamp pop, and the band’s own unique take on pop covers and adaptations of Appalachian folk music. It’s Mardi Gras all the time when Dr. Zsa plays. The audience learns the zydeco and Cajun moves during a quick dance lesson at the start. For more information about the band, visit doctorzsa.com. Enjoy a selection of 50+ craft beer from 20 local and international breweries as well as food, garden tours and music. QBG’s Brew Fest will be held over two sessions; the fi rst one from noon to 3 p.m. and the other from 4 to 7 p.m. Tickets are required for admission and are $45 if purchased before July 18 and $50 at the door. The Alzheimer’s Association, New York City Chapter, offers a monthly support group in Mandarin Chinese for people caring for a person with Alzheimer’s or any of the other dementias. EDITOR’S PICK SIBLING BAND ‘VESSIO’ AT QUEENS THEATRE IN THE PARK Teen rock duo VESSIO will be performing at Queens Theatre in the Park from 7 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, in support of their upcoming self-titled debut album. This has been a long journey for siblings Misia and Dante Vessio. Dante, 15, has held his dual role as front man and guitarist for the powerhouse band and since he was 9. Misia, 18, the drumming force behind VESSIO, has been featured on the show “You Play Like a Girl,” hosted by rocker Samantha Maloney. VESSIO recently competed on “Next Great Family Band,” fi nishing second at the end of the season. The brother and sister duo promises to put on a performance that won’t disappoint as they bring their dynamic energy and power to a killer set and introduce VESSIO to the world.
