Last year, Billboard Magazine listed Five Towns College among the top 35 schools and universities with music business programs in North America. With an enrollment of 800, the college provides personal attention to its students. Students have access to audio recording studios designed for a professional working environment by John Stork, the preeminent designer of architectural acoustics for recording studios and performance spaces. Students learn on high-end professional equipment such as an SSL 9000 J mixing console and Pro Tools HDX. “We also have a lab that has 24 individual stations with iMac computers,” says John Machado, co-chair of the audio division and a professor of recording technology. Like Machado, many faculty members are industry veterans. Music Business Professor Mel Glazer is a veteran songwriter whose credits go back to the 1960s when he co-wrote the title song for the Elvis Presley movie “Speedway.” Linda Ingrisano, a former Capitol Records senior executive, is a professor, career counselor and industry associate, helping students to find internships at companies such as Billboard Magazine. Professor Ingrisano also runs a lunch and lecture series which offers students an up close and personal information session with an industry professional. Students gain valuable inside information from these lectures which will enable them to have the upper hand when pursing a position upon graduation. So if you’re interested in Music, Media or the Performing Arts attend Five Towns College’s Enrollment Week July 21-25.
