The victim was attacked about 3:20 p.m. on May 27 near 153rd Avenue and 88th Street, offi cials said. One of the suspects, described by police as a woman, around 18 years old, came up to the victim from behind and took her pocketbook, which contained $100, a cell phone and other personal items, from the cart. A second suspect, a man, who was also about 18 years old, then punched the 73-year-old in the face, causing her to fall to the ground. The victim suffered cuts to her ear and abrasions to her arm, and was taken to Jamaica Hospital for treatment, cops said. Police have released a video of the robbery, and said the female suspect was last seen wearing a vest and the male suspect was last seen wearing dark clothing and tan cargo shorts. Screenshot courtesy of NYPD 112TH PRECINCT Forest Hills and Rego Park Suspects try to nab birds from Rego Park pet store: cops Two men are accused of stealing an assortment of birds from a Rego Park pet store, minutes after trying to burglarize a dental offi ce down the street. In addition to taking the animals, the pair also swiped bird cages from the Petland Discounts on 63rd Drive near Saunders Street at about 3:20 a.m. on May 28 before dumping them in a nearby alleyway, cops said. The break-in triggered the store alarm and the manager was called, according to police. The birds, which included a white ringneck, a red bronze canary and several varieties of fi nches, along with three cages, were then found next to the store. Around 2:55 a.m., the suspects also attempted to burglarize a dentist offi ce, located at 94-24 63rd Drive, but fl ed without taking anything, offi cials said. Photos courtesy of NYPD 113TH PRECINCT St. Albans, Hollis, Springfi eld Gardens, South Ozone Park, Jamaica, Addisleigh Park and Locust Manor Off-duty cop killed in Jamaica motorcycle crash An off-duty Queens NYPD offi cer was killed while riding his motorcycle in Jamaica, police said. The accident happened at about 5 p.m. on June 2 on Linden Boulevard at 158th street. The cop, identifi ed as 28-year-old Curtis Johnson, was riding his Harley Davidson eastbound down Linden Boulevard when it collided with a Chrysler Concorde as it was trying to make a left turn off of 158th Street from the westbound side of Linden Boulevard, offi cials said. After crashing into the Chrysler, Johnson was thrown from his seat and the motorcycle struck a second vehicle, a Nissan Altima, which was traveling westbound on Linden Boulevard at 158th Street, cops said. Johnson, who, according to published reports, worked in Jamaica’s 103rd Precinct, was taken to Jamaica Hospital where he was pronounced dead. As of press time, police said there have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing. 115TH PRECINCT East Elmhurst, Corona and Jackson Heights Two wanted in assault at Jackson Heights train station Police are looking for two suspects wanted in connection with an assault at a Jackson Heights train station. On Saturday, May 24, at about 9:46 a.m. a 22-yearold man got into a verbal dispute with two women while on the Manhattan-bound No. 7 train platform at the 74th Street and Roosevelt Avenue subway station. The two female suspects began to punch the victim on the head and body and then one of them slashed his arm and shoulder with an unknown object, cops said. The victim was taken to Elmhurst General Hospital, treated and released. One of the suspects, seen in a photo released by the NYPD, is described as a 35-year-old Hispanic woman with black hair in a ponytail. A New York City stand-up comedian and actor was arrested at John F. Kennedy International Airport for elbowing a woman Tuesday “for no apparent reason,” Port Authority Police said. Kevin Meaney, 58, whose work includes appearances on Saturday Night Live and the Late Show with David Letterman and a starring role in the early 1990s CBS sitcom “Uncle Buck,” was at the airport’s Terminal 1 about 6:30 p.m. when the incident occurred. Meaney allegedly came up to a 29-year-old woman while she was walking and elbowed her in the chest. Police said Meaney jabbed the woman “for no apparent reason,” and witnesses confi rmed the victim’s claim. The woman reported experiencing chest pain, but refused medical attention. Meaney was arrested without incident and charged with assault, offi cials said. The comedian also appeared in the movie “Big,” and was in Broadway’s “Hairspray.” Tuesday’s incident was the second time Meaney was arrested at an airport. In 2002, he was arrested at San Francisco International Airport when he tried to grab a National Guardsman’s M-16 rifl e after he was told to stop fi lming security operations with his video camera, according to SFGate.com.
