Queens-based Joseph and Mary Ann Mattone received the grou’s Education and Leadership Award to a standing ovation. The other distinguished honorees included former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award; Paul Rinaldi, president of the National Air Traffic Controllers Association, who received the 2016 Humanitarian Award; and Nicholas Calio, CEO of Airlines for America, who earned the Excellence in Business Award. To entertain the 1,000 people in attendance, singer Michael Amante thrilled the auidence with his classical and pop songs. Actor and philanthropist Gary Sinise, founder of the Gary Sinise Foundation whose family includes service members, moved the auidence in explaning how his organization helps veterans. 1.
