Tomaso and Armanda DeCiantis were both born in Brocastells, Italy. They worked on a small farm and dreamt of one day being able to come to the United States. In the late 60’s they arrived at Ellis Island with their three children (Larry, Carlo & Anna). On August 3rd, 1970 they opened Cara Mia Restaurant in Queens Village, New York. Family was always there to help. Armanda’s mother Liberata made the meatballs famous. After gracing this world for over 102 years Liberata “Nonna” passed away in March 2008. Carlo’s wife April and children Melissa, Sergio and Victoria are still working by his side as well. In the late 90’s Carlo became the owner/head Chef of Cara Mia. Keeping all the family recipes the same and preparing many homemade Italian specialties. In September 2006 Sergio (Carlo’s Son) opened Cara Mia Due in Seaford, Long Island.
