Along the way, the audience will use their map-reading, counting, musical and language skills to help Dora reach the treasure. The Queens Museum is holding an Open Studio for Young Adults with Autism for individuals between the ages of 17 and 25. During these sessions, participants work on planning projects of their choosing. They work with educators who will mentor them, building on skills and interests while encouraging the exploration of new modalities and media for expression. Participants are invited to submit completed works created during Open Studio in a culmination exhibition as part of our Community Partnership Exhibition Program. The Queens Museum invites children ages 5 to 12 and their adult companions to explore different works on display each week through a variety of fun hands-on art making activities. Children with special needs are welcome, and adaptations are available. No fee or advance registration is required. Just show up and stay for as long as you like. The program is located at Studio A on the second fl oor and/or in various locations throughout the museum, so check at the admissions desk upon arrival. The featured speaker will be Anthony Hill from Con Edison, who will discuss household electricity and offer tips on how to save energy. It was organized by Barbara Miller, curator of the collection and exhibitions, who worked with Richard Koszarski, professor of English and Cinema Studies at Rutgers University.
