Van Bramer was recognized for his service to western Queens since taking office in 2009 and Chapin was honored for launching revivals of more than 20 musicals in New York and London, among other contributions to the arts. Power brokers from across the city and country raised funds for the Police Athletic League (PAL) during its business luncheon on April 1 at Mutual of America in Manhattan. Steve Forbes, chairman and editor-in-chief of Forbes Media and a former presidential candidate, served as the keynote speaker. The event attracted a who’s who lineup of politicians, business leaders and others in support of the charity that provides programs for the city’s youth.
