The foodfest showcases local restaurants. Foodies can expect lots on the menu, with samplings from many different cuisines that refl ect the multiethnic character of the parish and the Forest Hills community it serves. Announced restaurant participants include Tuscan Hills, La Boulangerie, Uno Chicago Grill, Portofi no, Bonfi re Grill, Danny Brown and Jack and Nellie’s—with more to follow. Proceeds from this annual event benefi t the church, to help maintain this 100-year-old parish. Advance tickets are $20; $25 at the door. THURSDAY, MARCH 27 York College will be holding a lecture by Elizabeth Kahn Kaplan as a part of the King Manor Museum’s free lecture series. She will be talking about 19th century relations between the sexes, abolitionist preaching, political chicanery and more. The lecture will start at noon and be held in room 4D01 at York College, located at 94-20 Guy R. Brewer Boulevard in Jamaica. SATURDAY, MARCH 29 The Gingerbread Players present “The Boyfriend.” This classic boy-meets-girl romantic romp, set on the freewheeling French Riviera during the Jazz Age, is an affectionate spoof of the madcap musicals of the 1920s. The story of Polly Browne, the poor little rich girl at an elegant school for young ladies, and her search for “that perfect thing called the boyfriend” will lift your spirits with such irresistible tunes as “Room in Bloomsbury,” “Sur La Plage” and “Won’t You Charleston With Me?”. Performances start at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The company’s trademark gingerbread cookies and cake will be on sale during the intermission. There is a suggested $12 donation, with a discount rate of $10 for groups of six or more.
