On Thursday, January 17, the suspect walked into the Capital One Bank, located at 155-14 Cross Bay Boulevard, and demanded money. The teller complied and the suspect fled with an undetermined amount of cash. There were no reported injuries. Anyone with information in regards to this bank robbery is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS. 108TH PRECINCT LIC, Sunnyside and Woodside Ten-year-old dead in tub On Thursday, January 31, police responded to a 9-1-1 call of an unconscious male inside a Queens Boulevard apartment. Upon their arrival, responding officers discovered the victim, a 10-year-old boy, identified as Farhan Talukder, unconscious and unresponsive in the tub. EMS also responded to the scene and took the child to Elmhurst Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The medical examiner will determine the cause of death and the investigation is ongoing. 109TH PRECINCT Downtown Flushing, East Flushing, Queensboro Hill, College Point, Malba, Whitestone, Beechhurst and Bay Terrace Arrest man who exposed himself to girls Police have arrested a man who was wanted for exposing himself to two girls, ages 12 and 13, in Queens. Dagoberto Amaya, 32, of Flushing, has been charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and three counts of public lewdness. Man who tried to lure teens arrested The man wanted for trying to lure two girls into his car in Queens last week has been arrested, said police. Angel Recalde, 43, of Flushing, has been charged with two counts of luring a child to commit a crime, endangering the welfare of a child and harassment. On the morning of Friday, January 25, in separate incidents, Recalde allegedly tried to grab the girls, ages 13 and 14, off the street, but both teens managed to flee before he got them into his vehicle.   114TH PRECINCT Astoria, Long Island City, Woodside and Jackson Heights Commercial robber sought Police need your help finding the man they say is responsible for a string of robberies. In each incident, the suspect gains entry into the commercial establishments through the roof top. On Monday, December 24, the suspect cut a hole in the rooftop of the Rite Aid at 47-07 Broadway but did not enter the location. That same day, he hit the Zac Deli at 48-16 Broadway and took merchandise and cash before fleeing. A week later, the suspect entered the Stop and Go at 53-11 Broadway and removed merchandise before fleeing. The suspect is described as a dark skinned male black, 5’7” to 5’11,” last seen wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt with “G-Unit” logo on the front, white and orange Air Max Nike sneakers and dark colored jeans. Suspect sought in LIC murder Authorities are looking for a suspect in the murder of a Manhattan man who was shot and killed in Long Island City Saturday night, police said. Francisco Leal, 27, had a gunshot wound to his chest when cops found him on the corner of 21st Street and 41st Avenue around 10 p.m. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital of Queens, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Among those stopped-and-frisked in 2011, 87 percent were either black or Hispanic, according to the report. Of the 685,724 stops made citywide, 53 percent were black while 34 percent were Hispanic. Only 9 percent of those stopped-and-frisked were white, while 4 percent were Asian. The most common crime suspected was weapons possession, which accounted for 26 percent of all stops. The incident happened at the “J” train stop at  Archer Avenue and Parsons Boulevard, and possibly involved an argument over an iPhone. According to police, two of the victims were stabbed in the stomach and the third in the leg. All three were taken to Jamaica Hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. more than 31,000, of which 97 percent of which were either black or Hispanic. The 73rd Precinct in Brooklyn, covering Brownsville, was the next highest with 25,167 stops, 98 percent of which involved minorities. Queens’ 115th Precinct of East Elmhurst, Corona and Jackson Heights ranked third with 18,156 stops. Nearly 93 percent of those stopped were minorities. The New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU), which fought to have stop-and-frisk statistics released last year, claims the system is a form of racial profiling, adding that the practice has not reduced the number of people who fall victim to shootings. In 2002, there were 1,892 victims of gunfire and 97,296 stops. In 2011, there were 1,821 victims of gunfire but a record 685,724 stops.
