She has made many of the outfits I wear to the major events we run. Shahin invited me to a dinner party she was having at her home for some of the leaders in the community. They are planning their annual parade down Madison Avenue on April 16. It has grown so large they now are organizing another one in Beverly Hills. As the founder of the parade said to me, “We want to show that we Iranian women don’t all wear face coverings. We are so proud of our culture that is thousands of years old. That day is a celebration of it.” Yet another group of WOW women. Here’s to woman power in the new year! OK, I’m bragging, but it stopped me in my tracks and now I must share it. Hudson has turned six months old and his mom sent me this photo of him in his winter hat. I fell off my seat. Am I just a prejudiced grandmother? Maybe, but enjoy it. What’s better than a baby to hug and love? It just put a smile on my face during a stressful, packed week. Thanks Tracey. Elliot James Renckens arrived Tuesday January 8, at 6:37 p.m. weighing 8 pounds 2 ounces. Born to Cory McCruden and Stefan Renckens, he was welcomed by grandparents Hansi Oppenheimer and David McCruden as well as by great grandparents Jeanne Oppenheimer and Jack Davis of Flushing. Hudson looks adorable in his furry hat! Congratulations to former Courier dining reviewer Jeanne Oppenheimer on the birth her great-grandson. rising stars H JANUARY 31, 2013 FRANK T.
