Born in Brooklyn, she was the dear sister of Joseph Mattone. Below are excerpts from his eulogy. “I was the last of 13 birth children, nine of whom survived various childhood diseases and became the last of the nine survivors. Helen was the fourth child and the third daughter. She passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2013.” “During World War II, Helen met her late husband, Andrew Rubino, a handsome Master Sergeant MP in the U.S. Army…a long and happy marriage ensued with three beautiful children; Michael Rubino, Esq., Andrea Rubino Gensch, her daughter and Vincent Rubino, our father’s namesake.” “She was loved for her cooking and especially her baking ability and at the wake, her grandson, Andrew Rubino Snyder, told how much he would miss her love, warmth and special Italian dishes, which he loved.” Martin A.
