Contact Julie Weissman at 718 423-3017 34 North Shore Towers Courier n November 2016 By Vicki Mazel NST Women’s CLUB Women’s Club Meets Famous Women of New York In a lively presentation held on Wednesday, October 5, Martin Schneit, Licensed Tour Guide and lecturer spoke about famous ladies of NYC, spotlighting fourteen women who’ve had a lasting impact on everything from the founding of parochial schools to equality and unionism. The list featured Abigail Adams, Bess Meyerson, Jane Jacobs, Rose Schneiderman, Emma Lazarus, Ella Fitzgerald, Abby Rockefeller, Gertrude Whitney, Bella Abzug, Elizabeth Seton, Audrey Munson, Lena Himmelstein, and Mae West. So... next time you’re on board ship, grab a Mae West, and know that a New York woman inspired the name of your flotation device. Opening remarks were made by President Bobbie Gould, who announced that the club now has 269 dues paying members. She also encouraged all snowbirds to sign up for NST Women’s Club South, where events and a possible trip are being planned for those who migrate to Florida during the winter months. Going South?
