Martin A. Schwartzman CPCU
I would like to continue to
make a commitment to provide
my extensive financial, regulatory
and business experiences
to North Shore Towers as a
member of our Board Directors.
I believe that my experience has
greatly benefited the residents of
North Shore Towers.
I am a Graduate of Hofstra
University with a BBA in
Accounting. Currently, I am the
Owner of SBL Solutions LLC,
a company providing insurance
and regulatory and consulting
services for a variety of domestic
and international clients.
Prior to retiring from
Government Service, I was
the Senior Advisor to the
Superintendent of the New York
State Department of Financial
Services. The Department of
Financial Services is the supervisor
of all Insurance companies
in New York, all New York Statechartered
depository institutions
and most United States-based
branches and agencies of foreign
banking institutions.
In April 2010 I was appointed
First Deputy Superintendent of
the New York State Insurance
Department. In that role, I was
second in command of the
Department, overseeing The
Deputy Superintendents of
the Department as well as the
operation of the agency. Before
that I served as the Deputy
Superintendent for Strategic
Planning and Market Initiatives
meeting the needs of consumers
and industry.
Rhonda Schorr
As a woman in a men's dominated
system, I started my career
in 1973 with the USPS. I knew I
had to work harder than my male
counterparts with vision, ingenuity
and creativity to enhance my
career path. Over the years, I had
advanced to supervisory and managerial
positions. While Manager
of the Howard Beach Post Office,
I supervised over 50 employees
and was responsible for the total
operating budget. I was accountable
for all capital expenditures
and always looked to improve the
customer experience. As a result,
I consistently won outstanding
merit awards.
I achieved the position of
Manager Customer Service
Operations where I oversaw the
operations of 18 Post Offices and
2000 employees. I held executive
positions that focused on services
to our business clients.
Expeditious decision making
and setting the bar consistently
higher has been the hallmark of
my career.
I will bring transparency to the
shareholders and will work cohesively
with the board to improve the
quality of life at North Shore Towers.
In addition to everything I've
achieved, I also possess a BA from
Queens College, and have been
happily married for 43 years with
2 children and 5 grandchildren.

My wife Linda and I have
happily lived here for over four
years. We are advocates for
NST. We petitioned to reverse
proposed reductions in QM6 bus
service. I have been an active
member of the Marketing and
Finance committees for two
years.
I hold a Ph.D. in Business
from CUNY, was a Distinguished
Professor at Hofstra, Director
of Hofstra's Executive MBA
program, and Associate Dean
of Hofstra's School of Business.
My marketing and retailing
textbooks, published in multiple
languages, are in their 13th
edition, and I have authored over
25 articles on business strategy.
My business consulting included
Duane Reade, Fortunoff,
NCR, Kohls, Singer, and Simon
Property Group. Having started
at Hofstra as a full-time faculty
member at 22, I retired this past
August.
Serving as president and treasurer
of two condominiums, in which we
own apartments, provides me with
extensive real estate experience. My
involvement with refinancing, competitive
bids, and extensive renovations
over 10 years has resulted in
higher property values, lower costs,
and improved services.
It would be my honor to use my
skills as an NST board member.
Your vote for me will help
make NST an even better home
for all of us.
Theresa {Teri) Oropallo
During my ten years as a
resident, I have served on the
Country Club Committee and
the New Residents' Welcome
Committee. I have been President
of the Ladies' Golf Association
and chairperson of the Babes
Against Cancer Fundraising.
My professional career
included being a teacher and
assistant principal at Richmond
Hill High School. In 1991, I
became Principal of Northport
High School. As principal, I
was responsible for over 400
staff members including teachers,
clericals, cafeteria workers
and security guards, as well as
over 2000 students yearly. After
retiring, I taught at Stony Brook
University for 15 years in their
Leadership Program.
Deciding to run for the Board
was not an easy decision. As an
administrator for over 20 years, I
know not every decision made is
acceptable to everyone.
However, I have always tried to
get as much input as possible and
made decisions based on what
was best for the organization. I
realized early in my career that
there is no "I" in the word leader
and there is no "I" in Board
Member. I know how much time
this takes and that weighed on my
mind. However, I am committed
to do my best for the Towers.
